Calibration Fixture Connected to a Computer

Over the past year, with help from the Institute of Automation and Electrometry at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk, Russia, Siborg created a new calibration fixture that is able to preform periodic calibration on all models of Smart Tweezers LCR- and ESR-meters, including the LCR-Reader.

The fixture uses a 14 known components of different types and values that fall within the measurement ranges of LCR-Reader and Smart Tweezers. Previous calibration fixtures used a 4-wire Kelvin probe connection; the new model uses a 2-wire connection allowing all models to be calibrated.
With help from the Institute of Automation and Electrometry at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk, Siborg has created a calibration fixture that can perform periodic calibration all Smart Tweezers models, including the LCR-Reader.
The fixture uses a set of 14 known components of different types and values within the ranges of the devices. Previous Smart Tweezers calibration fixtures used a 4-wire Kelvin probe connection; the new model use a 2-wire connection allowing all models to be calibrated.

calibration certificate When an LCR-Reader or Smart Tweezers device is connected to the fixture, the fixture cycles through the components. The measurement values are displayed on the devices' screen; the measurements values can then be compared to the known values of the components and the device's accuracy is then accepted or rejected.
Once the calibration fixture was completed, Siborg sent it and four randomly selected LCR-Readers to Navair Technologies, one of Canada's leading calibration houses in Toronto, Ontario. Navair verified the fixture, which allows Siborg to begin offering NIST Traceable Calibration Certificates along with LCR-Reader. The lack of periodic calibration for LCR-Reader made the device overlooked by many professionals.
